Buttermilk Pound Cake
Every month when my new Cuisine at Home magazine arrives, I find a recipe I want to try. This month, the Buttermilk Pound Cake on the cover caught my attention right away. It’s wonderfully versatile and is a good base for any number of toppings. We created this Limoncello Blueberry Sauce that soaks right into the cake and complements the tangy buttermilk flavor perfectly.
Limoncello Blueberry Sauce In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, stir together: 1 cup Water, 1/2 cup Sugar,1/2 cup Limoncello, 12 ounces Blueberries. Continue stirring until blueberries start to bubble (about 8 minutes). Then add: 2 teaspoons Arrowroot (or Corn Starch) dissolved in 2 Tablespoons water. Continue stirring until sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon. This sauce would also be delicious with Pancakes, French Toast, or Shortcake.

One of the wonderful things about Italian culture is the pride they take in making the best of everything. The Amalfi Coast is the home of Limoncello – an intense, sweet lemon liquor that is generally served as a “digestivo” – or after-dinner drink. We visited Amalfi on our Honeymoon, and were told that if Limoncello is not from Amalfi, it’s not Limoncello!
