Beautiful, fresh Peaches |
This week’s Baked Sunday Mornings challenge is for Peaches and Dream Pie. I love peaches, and I love cream, so I was really looking forward to making this pie! Much to my dismay, the custard didn’t set, so once again, I had a runny pie! Really?!?
Ready for the oven – still pretty |
Since there’s no picture in the book, I have no idea what this pie was supposed to look like, but I thought it looked really great…until I cut into it.
It tasted okay, but really wasn’t anything special. I couldn’t resist adding Pecans to the topping which John thought tasted like Pralines, but he said the Peach and Blueberry Crisp we make has a lot more flavor. I was so proud of myself, too. I made the pie while John was out of town, put in in the fridge – whole – and waited until he got home the next day to cut it. So, it’s not even as though I didn’t allow the pie to cool.
The disaster – custard that refused to set… |
I still have to say that I’m a big fan of the pie dough, though – it’s easy to work with and has a great texture & flavor. Unfortunately, this was not the pie of our dreams!

I’m so sorry to hear that you had a runny pie! Again! I haven’t made it yet, and now I’m wondering if I should! In anycase, it sure looked beautiful. And that flower! Wow!

After going to the effort to make a homemade pie crust, there’s nothing worse than sub-standard filling! I love your gorgeous dahlia, though~

Aw! Agree with you about that pie dough, though.

I’m so sorry that it didn’t set up after all your work. I thought pecans gave the topping a wonderful crunch and flavor. So glad that you also thought they were a must addition! 🙂

I love the idea of adding pecans to the pie topping! That extra little crunch must have been so nice! Sorry you had trouble with the pie!

Well, this was the time not to put the pie into the fridge but to just eat it…the whole thing. I put leftovers in the fridge and they were soggy the next day…but freshly baked it was OK…not great, in my opinion, but OK…and your photos are always great!

Your pie looks perfect, you were good to leave it in the fridge!
I made a peach cake, couldn’t decide between cake or pie, will have to make a pie now that I’ve seen this beauty, yum;-)
