Sea Bass
One of the things I love about going to the Farmers’ Market every week is that I always find something wonderful to try. This week, along with all the lovely fresh fruit and vegetables, I bought Sea Bass right off the boat – caught last night & filleted this morning. It doesn’t get any fresher than that!
John sprinkled the fish on both sides with Dill Pepper from Cedar Rock that we bought on San Juan Island last summer, then let it sit for about 20 minutes before pan-frying it in Olive Oil for about 5 minutes on each side. We served it with fresh lemon wedges.
This recipe comes from my friend, Kathy, at Bakeaway With Me. Kathy and I participate in French Fridays with Dorie and Baked Sunday Mornings together. Both groups are made up of enthusiastic cooks who are also bloggers. Besides being a talented chef, Kathy is a wonderful photographer, and her posts are always top-notch.
I made this tart in a pie plate because I didn’t have a tart pan large enough to hold it. The other change I made was to add the garlic to the zucchini while I cooked it. This tart is wonderful – like a quiche with herb-scented crust – and a perfect accompaniment to fish.
Broiled Tomatoes
A super simple summer side dish (or breakfast, if you live in England!)
Remove the core, then sliced the tomatoes around the middle, set them cut side up on a baking sheet lined with foil.
Drizzle them with Olive Oil.
Sprinkle them with Shallot Pepper and Salt.
Top them with a bit of Italian-blend Cheese.
Place under the Broiler for about 5 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Enjoy!

Your ricotta tart is a beauty and the tomatoes are simple to make, yet special to look at. Yummy sounding.

More winners! That sea bass is cooked to perfection, but I could make a meal out of that zucchini pie and tomatoes…mmmmmm.

Susan, this looks like an amazing plate of fresh flavors that compliment the sea bass. I have a surplus of zucchini right now so I will be checking out Kathy’s tart;-)

You were my inspiration for pan fried sea bass last night. I am on a strict diet after returning from vacation and when I saw the fish in the market…well…had to make it just like this. The tart will have to wait until I get back in fighting shape but it looks delish!

You had me at “SEA BASS,” although the rest of the menu appears to be wonderful as well. Sea bass has got to be my favorite fish to eat, and I imagine that fresh off the boat it tastes extra good. Everything looks really fresh and delicious!
