This week’s French Fridays with Dorie challenge is for this wonderfully flavorful exotic dish that seems more Indian than French. I was a little reluctant to try this recipe because I wasn’t sure how I’d like Lamb, but John wanted to try it, so we did! It was surprisingly good and perfect for a cool autumn evening. The layers and layers of flavor make every bite unique.
We used Maharajah Curry from Penzeys, Fresh Mint from our garden, and mini Yukon Gold Potatoes and Fuji Apples from the Farmers’ Market. I was surprised to find Lamb at our local market, but I’ve never looked for it before. The aroma was mouth-watering! We invited my brother and sister-in-law to dinner and all four of us cleaned our plates.
We served the Curry over Brown Rice. We also found Garlic Tandori Naan at Trader Joe’s and served it warm with a bit of Butter.

I love curries but have never had one with lamb. I would have probably been like you, a little doubtful, but I’ll take your word for it now! Thanks for testing out this yummy looking recipe!

Thanks for the preview. I am struggling with making this one, as our forays into the world of lamb haven’t been stellar (I am thinking about substituting a cut of beef).
I am glad to hear everyone enjoyed it!

LOL, this is one I have decided to skip…and here you’re back in the swing of FFwD! The previous curry was not a hit with the family, so I figured I shouldn’t waste a bunch of lamb that no one will eat. I may whip up an alternate lamb stew instead. I’m glad you enjoyed this dish~

Wow- this looks gorgeous. Since Nana did the soup this week (and announced there was no way she was doing anything involving cardamom and curry 🙂 I am stepping up to the plate with this one. Great to see how it turned out for you. Always an adventure, no ? And nice photo of the mission – fun to see the West Coast ~

I’m actually going into this one with a bit of hesitation because that braised pork curry dish that we did back in July was such a disaster. So thanks for the preview, your lamb looks delicious and gives me a bit more courage.

Since I have a long weekend, I was planning to make it in the next few days. I really enjoy lamb and haven’t fixed it in quite awhile. Your photos are beautiful and make me excited to make it for sure! Glad to know that you and your guests enjoyed it. Have a great weekend, Susan!

Although I love lamb, I am not a fan of curry, so I thought of skipping this one! However, yours looks so wonderful…maybe I need to give it a try. Sounds like you had a lovely dinner party.

What a great recommendation! I couldn’t serve lamb to my family, but I’d gladly make it for myself.

Never had curry lamb before but this recipe looks tempting!

Well heck, if everyone is not in favor of lamb you know that means I love it. And I DO! And I think more people would like curry if they sprung for the good stuff! Great job! I hope to get this one out too!

I hope this is only the beginning of your love affair with lamb. It’s one of my absolute favorite – when it’s lamb that is. The gamey taste of sheep is not so lovely. I was wobbling on whether I’d make this one too, but after seeing your pictures! OMG! Gorgeous! You’ve got my mouth watering!

Awesome that you’re branching out to new tastes and like it. And ridicously jealous that you can still get mint from your own garden. It’s cold up north!

Fun to make such a beautiful dish that can be enjoyed with guests. I’m behind but doing some catch-up. Nice to see what you’ve done…gets me excited.

Lamb is my favorite meat in the whole wide world. I could eat it every day, if it weren’t so darn expensive. Glad you tried it! (And, glad that you liked it!)
Allison says
Naan would have been a perfect addition! I’m stealing that from you for next time!

This turned out so beautifully! I am a huge lamb meat lover so I’ll be definitely making this.

Glad to hear it was a hit with everyone at your table. And nice for you to find out that you like lamb. I used a Penzey curry too, but the Hot Curry Powder. It wasn’t all that hot (fortunately). I wished I’d thought to pick up some naan. Perfect choice to go with!

It’s lovely when you find you enjoy something you weren’t sure about trying. I wish I’d thought to serve mine with naan!
