Chock full of everything good! |
One of the fun things about writing a cooking blog is always trying new things. I just got Joanne Chang’s cookbook, Flour. I love cookies, and have been baking them since I was about 8 years old. So I was intrigued by this recipe that combines what her bakers crave most in a cookie: oats, toasted pecans, coconut, and dark chocolate! Seriously, what’s not to love?!? You can find the recipe here.

Toasted Pecans |
I thought the batter was a little too moist, so I added an additional 1/4 cup flour – you can see the difference in the photo of the cookies in the linked post & mine. I really believe it’s a matter of personal preference.

I have to say, these cookies taste much better than they look. They didn’t last long, so I’ll have to make more soon!
In the front of the book, Joanne says she always toasts nuts for baking. I think it’s a good idea – I really liked the toasted pecans in these cookies.
Susan, These cookies look fantastic! They even sound healthy…healthier anyway! Lovely!
To me they look wonderful! In fact I so wish you didn’t live all the way across the country – I would be raiding your cookie jar for sure if your were my neighbor, Susan!
Who doesn’t love cookies? Is there anyone in this planet? Not I at least. I always appreciate a new cookie recipe and this one sure looks very mouthwatering!
I have Joanne Chang’s Flour and have made a few things but not these cookies, will bookmark and try soon! They look good, I can understand why they disappeared so fast;-)
These look spectacular!! Thanks so much for the tips, the last one was especially helpful!
I’ve had this cookbook for a while now but still haven’t made these cookies! They sound so delicious…a need-to-try!
They look great!! I absolutely love this cookbook.
I love a good sturdy, chunky cookie, so I’m with you on the added flour. These look delicious, I can see why they didn’t last long!
I also have this book but has not yet made these cookies which look so yummy. After the souffle, I need your cookies. I’m in the mood to bake some more.
Oh, yum!!! I adore oatmeal cookies…and this recipe looks like a winner 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend, Susan!
Susan, I live in the Boston area, and Flour is the most amazing bakery. Whenever I’m near one (there are 3), I stop in and bring home treats. The sticky rolls are to die for. I don’t have the cookbook (yet), but it’s tempting. These cookies look great too.
I love cookies, especially ones with toasted pecans. Yum!
