Limes from our tree! |
This week’s French Fridays with Dorie challenge is for this wonderful summer salad bursting with flavor. The link above takes you to the original recipe. We customized it a little bit. First, we lined our plates with spring greens from our garden. Then, we roasted the tomatoes with the nectarines to give them more flavor. In addition to the corn, we scattered cubed avocado and blueberries among the scallops. We also used limes, basil, and a tomato all from our garden.

We rolled the tomatoes in olive oil & grilled them, too, for extra flavor – the one on the far left is from our garden! |

I was really surprised how much I enjoyed the grilled nectarine. It would have been wonderful with a scoop of ice cream in it, too!

What a beautiful salad! I love that you roasted the nectarines and tomatoes too – great idea!
Quite yummy indeed and so easy to put together. Jealous of your bounty here. I need a plot of land!
I have lime jealously 🙂 How fun to be able to pick yours from your backyard.
Beautiful take on this salad, Susan!
I love that you grilled the nectarines. It´s such a different flavor, I try to grill whenever I can. Tomatoes from your garden! I wish I had those. Great dish and wonderful pics!
Delicious, Susan, I love all your summery ingredients!
Beautiful! Now this is a salad bursting with colors and flavors,yum;-)
We liked the grilled nectarines too;-)
Call me crazy, but I just love a warm salad. All thos fresh fruits and veggies. And with scallops no less. Heaven!
It looks so pretty – and so impressive that you grew your own veges. The blueberries are a nice touch.
The salad is beautiful! How lucky you are to have such a wonderful garden. I love the use of avocados and blueberries. Nice job! I hope you have a great weekend.
You added some blueberries…. very interesting.
Hi Susan, I have just a few questions about your very gorgeous photographs showing all that home-grown produce. Just who does the gardening at your house? Realizing that you both work as well as (apparently) enjoying a very active social life, do either of you have the time for dirt work? Gardening at your productive level takes boots on the ground, so to speak. Whoever is doing the labor, you, John or a mystery person, good job. On to your salad. I got deathly sick on scallops once and have never been able to work with nor eat them againl. However, your last picture almost made a convert out of me. Lovely, lovely scallop supper.
Excellent changes! And I envy your fresh from your garden produce.
ice cream with the nectarine would have been amazing! LOL!! love your additions! it all looks so festive!
Yours turned out beautifully! 🙂
Nice additions! I told my partner that if he didn’t like the nectarine with the salad, he could consider it dessert, instead. In the end, we thought it worked very well with the rest of the flavours.
What a gorgeous salad!
Love the avocado and blueberry add and the roasting of the tomatoes! Beautiful! Our lime tree is just working on a new crop so I barely had enough for the salad but got in under the wire.
So yummy looking! I’d love a huge plate right now please! 🙂
I should have known you would come up with a brilliant idea – avocadoes!!! Oh my. Your salad looks fabulous.
Looks wonderful. I just made this this past weekend and was also surprised by how nice the nectarines were. I’d never cooked fruit like that so it was quite new for me.
Your Scallop Salad looks incredible, Susan! Love the addition of the blueberries…we so enjoyed this one! A perfect summer salad!
I agree with you that this was summer on a plate! I like your additions, especially the avocado. I left out the nectarine for reasons of family harmony, but it does enticing. I like the idea of adding ice cream to the grilled fruit. I just made basil ice cream this week and that would be a perfect pairing!
