This week’s Baked Sunday Mornings challenge was for The No-Bake Peanut Butter Cookie, but I chose to make-up another recipe from Baked Explorations that the group baked before I joined – Nutella Scones! I moved to Italy when I was 9 years-old. It was always a treat when one of my Italian friends invited me in after school for a slice of rustic bread smeared with Nutella.
Although these scones would surely make a Brit scowl, I loved them. The most intriguing part, to me, was flattening out the dough, spreading Nutella over it, rolling it up, standing it on one end and smashing it down to form ribbons of Nutella through the dough. Wonderful!

These scones are robust, rich, and chocolaty! Chocolate for breakfast works for me!
Enjoy!

I will take one! No two! No three! These look delicious. I’m sorry I’ve been so absent. Between moving (and feeling quite sick) I’m just now catching up to over a month of blog-reading! I hope you are doing well. It feels good to be back 🙂

Wow Susan! Chocolate for breakfast ALWAYS works for me, too! These look wonderful! I love your description of working the nutella into the dough! This recipe was from before my time with the group, also. And I’ve had my eye on it for some time, but haven’t managed to make it yet! You’ve just given me the visual incentive! They look fabulous and I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend! : )

Oh Susan, who cares about the Brits when you can have scones like these, WOW! I didn’t know you had lived in Italy, what an amazing experience that must have been and I’m sure it colored your culinary preferences for life (in a wonderful way). Hope you’re doing well, thinking of you ~ Chris

I had never really been in love with Nutella until we made the Nutella Tartine for French Fridays with Dorie. Whoa…….it was instant. So, I have a big unused jar in my cupboard and these look pretty darn tasty to me. Glad you “went rogue” this week!

This has been on my list to bake and bribe (I mean entice) my coworkers with ever since hearing two admins talk on about their love of Nutella. I don’t see how they could resist these.
