Yep! Seven sticks of Butter. |
When I saw this recipe for Apple Pie Bars in the current issue of Food & Wine magazine, I knew I wanted to make them. Then, I started reading the ingredient list: 12 apples; 7 sticks of butter; 3 cups of oats… Wow. Still, I wanted to make them. Well, I’m really glad I did! They do take time, but are truly worth the effort.
And, a dozen Apples, thinly sliced. |
These bars remind me of a dessert I would treat myself to at a bakery because I wouldn’t make them at home – but now that I’ve made them, I know I’ll make them again! Since this recipe makes a lot of bars, it would be perfect for a potluck or Christmas cookie exchange. The buttery shortbread crust is wonderful.

My, my, my. Even Julia would wince at 7 sticks of butter, But your apple bars do look scrumptious. I am going to pull out my current Food & Wine and make sure this wasn’t a typo. I am glad you were brave enough to soldier on.
