This week’s Baked Sunday Mornings challenge is for Vanilla Bean and Chocolate Budino which is a fancy way of saying “pudding.” This pretty layered dessert has a Bourbon-laced vanilla base and a milk chocolate top. The Baked Boys say you can top it with whipped cream (and I can’t believe I’m saying this) but, it really doesn’t need it. The pudding is thick, rich, and creamy all on its own. I’m sure it would be good with dark chocolate, too.
John’s sister, Susan, and her husband, Greg, perform missionary work all around the world. Last fall, they spent a few weeks in Madagascar working with local people, teaching classes, and conducting seminars. They were sweet enough to bring us a dozen vanilla beans as a gift. So, our pudding was made with wonderful Madagascar Vanilla Beans.
And, we discovered Moonstruck Chocolate when we were in Portland last year. At Christmas, I ordered a bunch of chocolate from them and so I had these great Milk Chocolate bars to use in the pudding, too.
Needless to say, using high quality ingredients yields great stuff! This pudding came together quick enough to make on a weeknight.

Gorgeous pudding Susan, and with actual madagascar beans! What a great gift if you like to be in the kitchen. I´ve been thinking about custard and budino for a while now, so maybe it´s time I made some. Have a wonderful weekend!

Your budino looks fantastic. Love all your pics. And the dishes you used for your budino are fabulous!!!

I really like your custard glasses! This was fun to make, but the ridiculous amount of dishes used preparing it may deter me from making it again! 😉

Looks beautiful, Susan! I am drooling over those vanilla beans and Moonstruck chocolate!! 🙂 I wasn’t crazy about this recipe and didn’t get a smooth, rich texture in my pudding– I wonder if I did something wrong?! Anyway, I’m glad you liked it so much!
