|Bursting with flavor!
It’s hard for me to resist buying tangerines by the box at this time of year. They are so bright and pretty and they smell so good! Of course, last night, I was wondering what to do with all of them. I wanted to preserve their bright, fresh flavor, so I concocted this sorbet. We also had some less-than-stellar Meyer Lemons from our tree which doesn’t seem to get enough sun to make them great.
In the bowl of an electric ice cream maker, blend:
2 cups Tangerine Juice
1/4 cup Meyer Lemon Juice
Zest of one Tangerine and one Meyer Lemon
1/2 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Late Harvest Dessert Wine – we used this Ice Wine from Adelaida
Blend for 20 – 25 minutes until it reaches desired consistency.
Transfer to a covered bowl and freeze for at least 1 hour before enjoying.
This sorbet is such a treat. It’s super intense flavor reminded me of the fresh squeezed orange juice we enjoyed on Delos Island on our Honeymoon. Even though we were on an island, it felt like we were in a desert – it was hot & dry and there was absolutely no breeze. After walking through the amazing ruins and fields for 2 hours, we were so thirsty! As luck would have it, the museum cafe offered fresh orange juice – I’d swear it was the best I’ve ever had!
