This week’s Baked Sunday Mornings challenge is for Sunrise Key Lime Tarts. These tarts are really easy to make. Eating them is like having a Margarita for dessert. The crushed pretzel crust is like the salt on the rim of the glass and the creamy filling has Key lime juice, Tequila, and Grand Marnier in it!
Someone from Florida is probably going to flip out, but I think this would be just as good with our beautiful California limes. The only change I would make is to make 6 tarts instead of 8 since they were a little flat.
On Saturday, we took our niece, Chelsea, to lunch at a funky Mexican restaurant and Tequila bar in downtown Ventura called “El Rey Cantina.” Replete with black velvet Elvis paintings and chandeliers draped with every size and color of bra you can imagine, it’s a renowned Tequila tasting bar. They have the best tacos and we think this would be a perfect dessert to add to their menu!
