Delicious Southern comfort food! |
Crisp, colorful, and cool! |
Cut a small head of red and green Cabbage in half.
Peel the leaves off and cut the tough core out of the middle of them.
Then stack them flat and slice them thinly in both directions.
Toss into a large bowl.
Then add:
One bunch of Green Onions, thinly sliced
1 cup shredded Carrots (I used pre-shredded ones from Trader Joe’s)
Stir vegetables together, then add:
1/4 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Mayonnaise
1/4 cup Milk
1/4 cup Buttermilk
2 Tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice
Salt and Pepper, to taste
Stir until thoroughly coated, then chill for a couple of hours.
Stir again just before serving.
So easy & so delicious! |
We used this recipe from Southern Living. I’d never made Corn Pudding before, but it was really easy and puffed up like a beautiful souffle.
Look at that rise! Perfect every time! |

I made a sort of corn pudding once, but Southern food is not something I usually make, although, I think I’d like a lot of it. I have yet to perfect Southern Fried Chicken-maybe it won’t happen because I’m Italian! haha! 🙂

Me, either, Christina, but we recently bought a bigger cast iron skillet, so I’d like to try! Funny how Southern Italians think corn is for pigs but we eat so much of it in the States!

Oh my…your corn pudding looks incredible. And those biscuits are beautiful! Nothing like a good biscuit. Will have to try those for sure.

What a delicious meal Susan, be careful though, if you eat too much of this kind of food, you start talking with a drawl!

Ham steaks and corn pudding was something my mother made after she and my father toured the South. I loved it as a kid, and I love it now!
