Baked Sunday Mornings: Brown Butter Snickerdoodles

September 29, 2013 by susanelester 13 Comments

Bet you can’t eat just one!

This week’s Baked Sunday Mornings challenge is for Brown Butter Snickerdoodles.  I love Snickerdoodles!  But, for some reason, I only make them at Christmastime.  Maybe it’s because I can’t stop eating them…  Leave it to the Baked Boys to take a classic cookie to a whole new level.  These cookies are made with browned butter and a touch of brown sugar.  They’re just delicious.

The only change I made was to use Penzeys Cinnamon Sugar to roll the cookies in – besides the best cinnamon I’ve ever had, it has vanilla powder in it!

If you like Snickerdoodles and love cinnamon, why not give this updated classic a try?

Enjoy!

Yours look better than the ones in the book! 🙂 I’ve also never tried these cookies, but have heard of them often. Another one to add to the never-ending list! CC

Susan, Susan, Susan, when you shared with me your favorite Pensey’s spices, seasonings and flavors, you did not suggest their cinnamon sugar. I have always made my own so I didn’t even consider buying it. Although I darn near cleaned Pensey’s out of products ( I did buy Vietnamese cinnamon), I did not buy vanilla powder. Just means another trip back to that wonderful store. Snickerdoodles are my favorite cookie next to Molasses This looks like a recipe worth trying. Today I am actually making World Peace Cookie – thinking the world could stand a dose of Peace. Hope they work. From one out-of-work gal to another, sending love.

Brown butter? Why didn’t I think of this? What amazing snickerdoodles…I’m going to have to look up this recipe and send a care package to Nick. I LOVE the idea of an end of FFwD reunion in NYC…it will be even more fun now that many of us have met.

Beautiful job, Susan– they look perfect! OMG, were these delicious or what?! I’m going to have to pick up some of that Penzey’s cinnamon-sugar– I didn’t know it has vanilla powder in it, which is brilliant! 🙂
