Baked Sunday Mornings: Turtle Thumbprint Cookies

June 14, 2014 by susanelester

Mmmm…caramel…mmm…chocolate…mmm…pecans…

Don’t you want one?

Oh, hi!  Sorry, I was distracted by my new favorite cookie!  This week’s Baked Sunday Mornings challenge is for Turtle Thumbprint Cookies!  If you’re looking for an impressive and truly delicious cookie to add to your repertoire, this is it!  These are as delicious as they are elegant.

Delicious, elegant, and addictive!

These are our favorite Baked cookies yet!  Sure, they’re a bit of work, but SO worth it.  What makes them so great?  Imagine the best salted caramel you’ve ever tasted nestled in a bed of dark chocolate shortbread coated with toasted pecans.  The perfect combination of texture and flavor – in other words, sheer cookie bliss!

Yum – Just Yum!

Matt & Renato said there would be extra caramel – well, there might have been if I could have resisted dipping pecan halves into it and eating them while the cookies were baking!  LOL!  This is the best caramel we’ve made.  In the event that you do have any leftover, it would be fabulous rippled through vanilla ice cream.

Enjoy!

These recipes are provided for your personal use. If you publish them, or re-post them, please give me credit. Grazie e Buon Appetito!

So agree with all you said! They are amazing aren’t they!? I like how you describe them as elegant- a very appropriate adjective for these cookies!

OMG, these look incredibly delicious! I may just have to make these when my daughter is in the UK next month (she’s allergic to tree nuts)! How did you stop yourself from eating them all?! 😉

Your cookies look wonderful! They really are good. And I will definitely be making them again. They would be a great Christmas cookie.

Hmmm…I’m not sure what went wrong with my caramel. I think maybe should have started off on medium-low heat, because it started to burn fairly quickly. Nevertheless, I LOVE the way these cookies look. I’ll have to remember them around holiday time!
