Baked Sunday Mornings: Bourbon, Vanilla, and Chocolate Milk Shakes and Simple Chocolate Syrup

June 22, 2014 by susanelester

Creamy, boozy goodness
Creamy, boozy goodness

This week’s Baked Sunday Mornings challenge is not baked!  It’s Bourbon, Vanilla, and Chocolate Milk Shakes and Simple Chocolate Syrup!  When John and I went to Oak Alley Plantation last fall, we ducked into the pretty little restaurant just as the skies opened up.  As we sat at the window on the covered patio, watching the rain, I sipped on a Bourbon Milk Punch.  The glass was drizzled with chocolate syrup and it was just delicious.  This milkshake brought back memories of that lovely afternoon in Louisiana.  The flavor was really good, but we both would have liked them better with twice as much Bourbon and half as much milk.

Sounds great to me! That rain soaked photo looks so enticing too. I suppose that’s what a drought can do to you!

I agree – I think they need less milk too. I had to add more ice cream (well, frozen yogurt in my case) to make it thicker. Good thing you didn’t use the chocolate syrup – mine was a disaster!

Yum. What a great way to start a Sunday (before or after church!)! I loved Oak Alley and had the milk pinch there, as well. It was so tasty. ~ David

I had to skip this one, as I was traveling at the time, but it sounds yummy. I was going to try the syrup for this week’s semifreddi, but after reading everyone’s problems, I think I’ll use a ready-made syrup instead…
