Guacamole makes a great topping for Southwest Salad! |
This week’s French Fridays with Dorie challenge is for Guacamole with Tomatoes and Bell Peppers. Â Since I can’t eat Bell Peppers, we made it without. Â We are lucky enough to live in SoCal where avocados are available year-round. Â We eat Guacamole often. Â For this week’s post, we made a Southwest Salad topped with Guacamole and served with Tortilla Chips.

Quite possibly our favorite salad dressing, dip, and snack! |
It’s interesting to me that a traditional Mexican dish is making a hit in Paris! The traditional tool for making Guacamole is a Molcajete.  It is very similar to a mortar and pestle which is Dorie’s preferred toollset.  I always use my pastry blender – you can make the Guacamole as chunky or smooth as you like.

Last weekend, we had the absolute pleasure of meeting Christy and Betsy for lunch in Santa Monica! It was like having lunch with old friends! |
Clever idea to use a pastry blender for guacamole! And how fun to meet Betsy and Christy! Your salad looks refreshing and delicious.
Awww – you had lunch with Betsy, Howard and Christy! That’s so nice. Yay!
I still have citrus and avocado envy, Miss California 🙂
You are so lucky about the red pepper because it was the one ingredient that folks had issues with… see somethings not being able to have something works out. Thanks for sharing your great Dorista pictures with us. I’m so excited that I am going to meet a few of the gals in July.
I’ve had such fun seeing all the pictures about your meet-up on Facebook. So glad that the three of you could make it happen. And, of course, you know I wish I was there with you. So you decided to go all-healthy this week. I make a meal out of guacamole, chips and rosé and you make a salad with one lousy chip! So disappointed in you, Susan. Seriously, your salad looks delicious as does your guacamole.
I like your idea of using a pastry blender to mash the avo – I will have to try that!
Well done, my friend. Your salad looks amazing!!! And what a fun gathering…wish I could have joined you!!!
I think your salad looks like the perfect way to use this guacamole!! I have enjoyed all of your pictures of your gathering! So fun!!
Beautiful, as always, Susan! And yours looks the most Southwest of all! David
Great tip, I will also try my pastry blender next time. And looks like a very fun lunch!
Nice pictures. I didn’t realize how many Doristas live in California. I am in Venice Beach.
Pastry blender!!! thanks for the tip! Love the salad you topped the guac with! Great ideas!
I’m really behind in catching up on the last month of Dorista posts. It was fun to see our picture. What an excellent time we had. I love the pastry blender idea. I’ve never tried that, but it makes sense. I made a Southwest salad that looks like yours for dinner this week (with chopped avocado, not the guacamole).
Love the meet up photo! You made a beautiful, summery meal with your guacamole. I’m going to keep the pastry blender tip in mind for next time. Great idea.
What a great idea to use a pastry blender! I never would have thought of that though I make the stuff nearly every week. Without a recipe thankyouverymuch but for Dorie…I tried to follow one for her.
