This week’s Baked Sunday Mornings challenge is for Date Squares, a homey, old-fashioned treat of dates sandwiched between layers of buttery oat crumb.  These were a particular favorite of my brother and me growing up.  In those days, we  made them from a Betty Crocker mix.  The Baked version is really good but I would alter it slightly next time.  I like more crumb, so I would make 1 1/2 times the recipe to create thicker crust.  And, I would add chopped walnuts to the top portion.  These are so easy to make and would be great to take to a potluck or other holiday gathering.

Enjoy!
These date squares look wonderful and so does your new site Mary! So pretty! Hope you’re enjoying WP, it is a bit of a learning curve at first, isn’t it?
Great looking date squares. These were so good.
Loving the look of your site. It is so fresh looking.
Aw, Tom Sawyer is so handsome!!! And this is when I wish I didn’t have a picky husband…I will have to wait for a reason to bake up these date bars for my girlfriends…they look wonderful (and I approve of extra crumb topping, too).
