This week’s Baked Sunday Mornings challenge is for Chocolate Texas Sheet Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting – bet you can’t say that with a mouthful of peanut butter!  Peanut butter and chocolate is a favorite combination of the Gentleman Bakers – not to mention my brother and my niece.  One of the advantages of this cake is its size – y’all know everything’s bigger in Texas!  The other is how easy it is to make and decorate – you do have to use the stove, but not the mixer.  The addition of coffee to the chocolate cake really boosts the chocolate flavor, the buttermilk makes it so moist, and the frosting is just right.

This is a great dessert to make to take to an event because you can bring it right in the pan.  It may not be the prettiest cake on the dessert table, but it will be the first one gone.  It’s the perfect cake for all those people who “just want a small piece,” because it’s so thin and lightly frosted. Despite the fact that I lived in Texas for five years, I’ve never made a Texas sheet cake before but I’m sure to make this one again.

We loved it too!
Looks delish! We thought it was yummy too!
I like your addition of chocolate sprinkles to the top — very festive! This is also my first Texas sheet cake, but absolutely not my last!
I pretty much love chocolate + peanut butter anything and this cake was no exception! I love your sprinkles too!
I love Texas sheet cake but think I will love it more when I add the PB topping!
Your pictures are killing me-everything is dead and depressing here, but every time I check your blog I see these beautiful landscapes (lucky you!). Your cake looks especially good-great idea to include the sprinkles.
Loved the chocolate sprinkles on top!
Yours looks great, I’m looking forward to trying this recipe.
I love the contrast the chocolate sprinkles added! I agree, super yummy, and the coffee made a nice addition to the chocolate flavor.
I think the only thing better than a chocolate cake is one with peanut butter frosting!
Looks yummy, indeed! And you’re so right– it’s a great cake for those people (unlike us cake addicts) who just want a taste. 🙂
